Abstract

Objective: To explore the feasibility of interventional treatment for vessel and bile duct reconstruction correlated complications after liver transplantation. Methods: Interventional procedures were carried out in 16 cases of complications after liver transplantation including 4 cases of hepatic artery stenosis, 2 cases of hepatic artery thrombosis, one case of portal vein stenosis combined thrombosis and blood shunt, 9 cases of bile duct stenosis. PTA or stent placement were performed in patients with stenostic complications, thrombolysis for patients with thrombosis and coil embolization for blood shunt. Results: The technical success rate was 100% in all of the 16 patients. In the patients with hepatic artery stenosis, one case received PTA and other 3 cases received stent placement. The thrombosis disappeared and blood flow restored after treatment in patients with hepatic artery thrombosis. Portal vein blood restored and blood perfusion increased in the patient with portal vein complication. The bile ducts were rebuilt after the treatment of PTA in 2 patients and stent placement in 7 patients. Five patients died in the follow up of half to 17 months but were not relevant to the complications and interventional procedures. Conclusion: Interventional radiological technique is believed to be effective in the treatment of vessel and bile duct reconstruction correlated complications after liver transplantation.
